Designing Standards

Below are the certain Design guidelines to be followed:

1. Always mention the resolution of the design PSD you are creating
2. Save the files in a particular format indicating the latest and the oldest files in the folder of that particular Project.
3. Multiple Designs created by you must be mentioned in your folder that whether it’s a Color variation options or Design variation option.
4. While making a design… must rename any important layer and folders.
5. Always make different folders for the Drop Down and Rollover structure in your file.
6. Don’t put any extra layer while delivering any file to the HTML guy.
7. All files created by you should have a proper naming convention; whether it’s flash or Photoshop.
8. Your Project folder should always have a final folder containing the final design option.
9. While doing any design, try to come up with the best possible option and try adding some freshness and not to follow the same old design formats.

Basic Flash Rules:
• Folder Structure: Everybody should maintain a proper Folder structure which makes it easier for anyone to get the Latest File at anytime.
• Sea pine: Once the Base file is ready everyone should enter their Source Fla into Sea pine, As and when the Changes comes, file can checked out and can be worked on.
• Layer Naming : All Layers Should be named Properly and Meaningful
• Symbol naming: All the Symbols should be named meaningful. If possible then try to follow a naming convention so that it makes it easier to search symbols in Library.
• Once the work is done, everyone should make sure that files does not violates at least basic things like spelling mistakes, spacing, logical buttons like exit , skip etc
• If someone finds any mistake in the file given to him/her, either should speak to the concerned person or if possible then fix the issue. The Bug shouldn’t be carry forward.

1. HTML Headers:
a. An appropriate title should be used for all the documents.
b. Your document should always have a DOCTYPE declaration.
c. Document may include other header elements such as relational links, style sheets, Client-side scripts and META elements.
d. Documents which are a front page or other principle entry point for a system include the following:
• KEYWORDS and DESCRIPTION Meta elements for the benefit of Web indexers.
• A “REV=MADE” link indicating the document’s maintainer or the Web-Editor who is working on the project.

2. Colours and Background Images:
a. Web-editor may use any legal mark-up to determine document color, but should use RGB specifications to do so.

c. Always use color-codes to define any color which should start on with # (never apply RED, BLUE, GREEN)
d. Background images (if used) Should be small in size and well optimised, as background images take much time to get downloaded.

3. Browser Compatibility:

b. Web-editors should always check all the pages for all the Websites in all the BROWSERS. (Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Netscape, Safari etc.)
c. HTML construct which render a document difficult to read due to known defects in popular browsers should be avoided, regardless

4. Attributes:

a. All the attributes must also be in lowercase and their values in quotation marks.
b. Minimized attributes are not allowed (such as <input type= “checkbox” checked />)
c. Actually minimized attributes must be given the value that is the same as the name of the attribute (such as <input type=”checkbox” checked=”checked” />).
d. The name attribute is no longer valid (except in form elements) and should be replaced with ID.

5. Images

a. Always used well optimised images on any web page, so that it shouldn’t have download problems.
b. Should always take care of the QUALITY of the image going to use on any page. Low Quality images aren’t allowed to be used.
c. Always define LEVELS and Brightness-Contrast before saving it for WEB.
d. All images shall have ALT text, where appropriate ALT=” ” is acceptable.
e. Always take care while saving an image into GIF or JPEG.
JPEG is optimised for compressing full-color or Grey-Scale Image Photographic-type, digital images. It doesn’t work well on drawn images such as line drawings and it does not handle Black and White images or Video images. Many Web Browsers can handle JPEG images with the appropriate helper application installed, though a GIF image is more common.
